Frank started in the industry at nine years of age and at 17 was the youngest recipient of the tri color Federated Garden Clubs on the N.E. seaboard. In his freshman year of college, he was on the design team of the Nixon-Cox wedding. He has an Associate's degree in Horticulture Merchandising, and a B.A. in Consumer and Environmental Studies. Frank owns two retail shops. He is a member of the American Institute of Floral Design and was a past member of their membership committee. Frank is also a member of Professional Floral Commentators International.
Frank was a designer/commentator on the prestigious Knud Nielsen Design Team for three consecutive years. He has also contributed his expertise in both floral design and visual merchandising, to the John Henry Company publications, Hot Display and the Wedding Book. He was also the creator of the Lomey Trunk Show and has done programs for Syndicate Sales. He is one of the nine AFS accredited professional commentators. Frank's design work has been featured in two consecutive volumes of Flowers For Your Wedding; two consecutive issues of “Tributes” and the selection guide for the former American Floral Services. His design work has also been featured in ads for Lomey Manufacturing, Syndicate Sales and was featured in articles for Modern Bride magazine.
Beyond his formal education, Frank has attended the advanced school for floral training, graduating from their course in “Power with People,” an advanced commentators course, stressing and providing experience before video cameras. He has also graduated from their course “Creative Party Decorations.” In order to keep abreast of current trends, Frank has attended the Floral Art Design School is Maastricht, Holland and was awarded a scholarship for design excellence, along with the Sogetsu School in Tokyo, Japan.
He has designed, commentated and demonstrated for wire service units, wholesale houses and manufacturers in the U.S., Canada, China, Holland, Japan and Taiwan. He has recently taught both in China and Taiwan. He has also taught at the American Floral Services Advanced School of Floral Design in Oklahoma City, OK, on a number of diverse topics. He was appointed to the American Floral Services education team in December of 1985.
His design work appears in P.F.D. Magazine, for which he is also a contributing writer. Michigan Florist, a publication of the Michigan Floral Association, featured his thoughts and work in an article entitled “Private and Corporate Christmas.”
He chaired “Festoons,” a program staged at the Bronx Botanical Gardens for the American Institute of Floral Designers National Symposium. It was enthusiastically received, drawing three standing ovations.
He has acted as a consultant to Creative Distributors in Boston, MA, a wholesaler of floral related goods. Frank was responsible for visual displays, buying and in-house education programs. Lomey Manufacturing, Smithers Oasis, Syndicate Sales, Variety Industry, and Romance Silk have all benefited from Frank's expertise in visual displays and product development. His “Party System” was an integral part of Lomey Manufacturing's product line. Lomey is now represented by Smithers Oasis.
Frank also designed two consecutive first place booths for Lomey Manufacturing at W.F.S.A.
When not involved in sharing his expertise with his peers, Frank plays volleyball, is a member of the North Syracuse Chamber of Commerce and the Syracuse Executives Association.
Never at a loss for words or humor, he meets all challenges unselfishly and head on with a wider range of knowledge, experience and design expertise.
Presently Frank is on the 1-800-Flowers product development team and he has been published in their nationally circulated magazine, Floristology
